 | Lowenstein Sidelined, Listed DTD by Pittsburgh Sunday, July 26th, 1970: Pittsburgh's star second baseman John Lowenstein injured himself in a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, prompting the team to list him as day-to-day. The doctors are reporting the injury as knee tendinitis and they say the best medicine is a short period of rest. "Hopefully I don't get replaced by some hotshot wannabe," said Lowenstein with a smile as he talked to reporters.
Lowenstein is hitting at a .277 mark this season. His stats show 19 home runs, 50 RBIs and 68 runs scored. He has played 94 games for the Pirates. | |
