 | Jones, Murcer Swap Teams Saturday, March 22nd, 1975: It came down to the last hour of a self-imposed trade deadline, but the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros finally came to an agreement on a trade that had been rumored for weeks. The trade sends Los Angeles's 26-year-old right fielder Richie Zisk, 32-year-old right fielder Cleon Jones and 29-year-old second baseman Davey Lopes to Houston in a swap for 31-year-old reliever Dan McGinn and 28-year-old shortstop Bobby Murcer. Both GMs seemed relieved that the deal had been completed with one stating, "We had to set a deadline to get it done." The players are expected to report to their new teams by tomorrow.
His lifetime stats show Jones has batted .297 and collected 1802 hits, 124 home runs and 698 RBIs.
In his career Murcer has played in 1414 games with a .256 batting average. Among his 1341 hits are 204 doubles, 36 triples and 161 home runs. He also has scored 664 runs and driven in 731 runs. | |
