Tuesday, October 6th, 2009: Toronto's Cecil Gets Outstanding Pitcher Award
He's in the early phase of his career, but this past season Brett Cecil performed like a veteran on the hill for the Toronto Blue Jays and walked away with the International League Outstanding Pitcher Award in the process.

The 23-year-old Blue Jays star fashioned a 17-6 won-loss record in 2009 with a 2.97 ERA. In 200 innings of work and 29 starts, Cecil struck out 213 while giving up 165 hits and 43 walks. He held opposing batters to a .221 average.
Sunday, September 27th, 2009: Hochevar Sharp, Whitewashes Mariners
Luke Hochevar of the Toronto Blue Jays put the clamps on the opposition and held the Seattle Mariners scoreless in a 5-hit whitewash.

"He's got some good stuff, but we should have done better than that," said the Seattle skipper after the 5-0 loss.

Hochevar was on target most of the game and finished with 11 strikeouts and no walks.

This year Hochevar has a 16-9 mark in 32 starts with a 4.54 ERA. He has given up 220 hits in 216 innings, struck out 162 and issued 80 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .263 batting average against him.
Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009: Jones Goes 5-6 Against Toronto
Kennard Jones put on a hitting clinic today as the Orioles dumped the Blue Jays 17-4 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The Baltimore center fielder sprayed hits all over the ballpark by lashing Toronto pitching for 5 hits in 6 at-bats in the game.

He told BNN reporters after the game that he just hit it where they pitched it. "Too often I try to pull the ball too much. Today I just went with the pitch."

K. Jones hit an RBI single in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.

Jones is currently batting .450 with no home runs and 5 RBIs.
